The Johnson Family feels very blessed to have such great friends in the Shaffer Family... they were all fantastic hosts and travel guides! The memories that we have of our trip and the time spent with them are so very precious. We thank the Shaffer Family for making our trip the best ever!
Arriving in London -- Tuesday, July 15, 2008 Monday, July 14, 2008 - leaving on a 777 jet at 8:15 pm for London! We are ready for the 8 hour flight and we are so excited! We cannot wait to see the Shaffer family! Our flight is on time an
d we land 1/2 hour early (Tuesday, July 15 at 9:30 am). We quickly go through customs and get our luggage. We wait in a large room (which Jeanne gave us excellent directions) and in runs Bryce to pick us up! We follow him to the Shaffer van and big hugs! Jeanne, Madison, and Christina all greet us! Bryce loads our luggage up and we are off to Stonehenge in the English county of Wiltshire.
Stonehenge is a circular setting of large standing stones and archaeologists believe it was erected around 2500 BC. This day was a little cloudy and chilly, but we loved it!
Then we are off to Bath - the Roman Baths!
The Roman Baths themselves are below the modern street level and has four main features, the Sacred Spring, the Roman Temple, the Roman Bath House and the Museum holding finds from Roman Bath. The buildings above street level date from the 19th century.
We even drank the "filtered" water from the baths (but not Greg - chicken)!
We then traveled to stay all night at a Travelodge Stonehouse, Gloucestershire. Jeanne is a fantastic tour guide -- her wealth of information was outstanding.
